GROUP DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY FROM SUNYANI MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

A former Public Relations Officer of Tue Sunyani Municipal Assembly among other persons in the municipality have petitioned the assembly to provide them with the expenditure for the assembly's Internal Generated Fund between January 2018 and July 2018.


In a petition sighted by KkbPortal which is signed by Sunyani East NDC youth organizer Mr Vincent Antwi Agyei, and some other persons, the concerned citizens noted GhS 1, 311, 830.27 was accrued in the above period.

This was made known  through a recently held town hall meeting hence they demand accountability from the assembly as citizens.


"As tax payers and concerned citizens of the municipality, we see it as a civil duty to be updated on how our taxes and other revenue generated by the assembly is been expended" an excerpt of the petition quoted.

He further backed his request with a constitutional article.


"This our singular action is anchored  on the accountability aspect of our decentralization and Local Government Act , Act 936 and the 1992 Constitution of the republic of Ghana chapter 20, Article 240 (2E)".

The group copied the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister.
