The Managing Director of Owusu Memorial Hospital in Sunyani, Dr Ebenezer Ammishaddai Saarrah-Akyerekoh has celebrated his 90th birthday with children at Remar Ghana Christian Rehabilitation Children's Home in Abesim.

The German trained medical officer went to the home with assorted items including footballs, toiletries, ceiling fan, bags of rice, pieces of cloth, sound system, soft drinks and metallic chairs worth over GhS10,000 to express profound gratitude to God for the gift of life and good health.

"The Lord has been very good to me and my my family. In my small way to express appreciation to God for His grace to me and my family, I decided to visit this home to show love to them and inspire them with assurance of love from the outside world" he noted.

Dr Saarrah-Akyerekoh however called on other well to do persons in the society to extend a helping hands to such persons in the community.

"Its my humble plea to all to find a place in their hearts to support those who are less previlleged" 

Advising the children he noted  "life is never as rosey as we always imagine. It requires purpose which is guarded with determination and hard work. Your present situation should not bar you from achieving higher heights in life"

He was accompanied by his wife Mrs Comfort Saarrah-Akyerekoh, brother Hon Dr. Saarah Mensah former minister of Youth and Sports, Brong Ahafo Regional Ministers and former Ambassador to India under the erstwhile NDC government, family members and the clergy from the Presbyterian Church of Gahna and Methodist Chiurchbin the region.

The director of Rema Ghana, Mr Joseph Asare Castro thanked the nonagenarian for his benevolence and asked for more from the public.

"We at Rema are amazed at this kind gesture from Doctor, most especially the sound system and the fan. These will help our worship activities and ventilation in the rooms respectively. Currently our biggest challenge is the cost of electricity power. We will in this delight call on all to come to our aid, for God loves a cheerful giver" Mr Castro called out.

Owusu Memorial Hospital was established in September 1975 and has operated in the Brong Ahafo capital to save many lives since its establishment.
