A group calling itself Friends of Dan Abodakpi is calling all delegates of the National Democratic Congress to appreciate the immense of contribution of His Excellency Dan Abodakpi and give him their trust ahead of the party's delegate congress in November.

Speaking to the media in Sunyani on Monday, the national coordinator for the group Mr Abdul Fatao Saani hinted the former envoy to Malaysia has gone through the mill in the NDC party  hence is endowed with the experiences to organize the rank and file of the party for victory in the 2020 general election.

"Having assumed the position of a deputy minister, substantive minister of Trade and Industry and an ambassador, he is a grassroot person who comes on board with revering posture to address the needs and the grievances of all disgruntled factions"  Mr Saani revealed.

Touching on what makes him the most credible candidate among the likes of  Betty Mould-Iddrisu, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Dr Benjamin Kumbour and Professor Kwesi Botchwey, he indicated H E Abodakpi is prepared to "out of his humility heal the wounds which seems to be tearing the party apart, unite the party and reconnect with the cadres, the former president J J Rawlings and his people in the Volta where the party witnessed serious voter apathy which led to our landslide defeat in the 2016 election"

On his part the Brong Ahafo regional coordinator of the group, Martin Lucas Owusu submitted "the various national positions are likely to be won by personalities who are not from the Volta Region, in this delight we can not be mean and ungrateful to our supposed World bank. their apathy was an eminent evidence for our defeat in 2016. In my humble plea I will call on the other candidates to throw in the towel and support H E Obadakpi, but if for the sake of democracy they will still contest, then delegates should reward him for his competence and integrity"

The former MP for Keta and Ghana’s High Commissioner to Malaysia has a simple mission: To reorganise the NDC for sustained victory.

Born on February 27, 1950, Mr Abodakpi contested in the party's 2014 National Chairmanship position. This year's national delegates congress is scheduled for November 3, 2018 in Accra at the Trade Fair Center,.
