Seasoned  Kumasi based Angel 96.1 Gospel presenter, Alexis De Godson has bemoaned the falling standards in gospel music in the country.

The current gospel terrain is characterized with unhealthy beef between supposed men and women of God to establish superiority over one another. Lyrics and music videos, artistes' public appearace and speeches as well as social media omments raise eye brows as to whether they are just marketing their talents or preaching the word of God.

Speaking to Cardinal Akwasi Takyi on Sunyani based Angel 92.3, he noted recent gospel acts fail to read the Scriptures, pray and remain to polishing their talent.

"contemporary gospel artistes are just lazy. They do not learn the scriptures anymore, they don't devote themselves towards prayer. All they prioritize is launching their album...little is done in promoting the album and they are quick to part ways with their producers and managers for the sake of selfishness" he revealed on "Entertainment Juice"

With Florence Obinim, Esther Smith, Monica Fodjour, Mavis Asante and their likes as case study, Alexis hinted female artistes who marry pastors are likely to shorten their commercial musical career which has a negative influence on the industry.

"When these talented ladies marry men of God, they are persuaded to help in establishing their ministries while the ladies abandon their gospel gifts. The men of God tend to manage them, offer them luxurious lifestyles, preventing them from attending shows and that ends their commercial music life" he noted.

He however called on up and coming gospel artistes to prioritize the study of the Bible, prayer and hold in high esteem people who will give them a helping hand to the limelight if they want to stay relevant in the industry..
