WAFAA UNVEILS NEW COUNTRY DIRECTOR





World Affirmative Action (WAFAA) a United Nations (UN) certified and affiliated organization has appointed Accra based Kasapa FM’s Obaasima Serwaa Akoto as country director. 

WAFAA has chapters in Nigeria, UK, South Africa among others with objectives of championing the course of females across the world, advocate for balance and equal opportunities for both genders, gender development and women advancement.

Women Affirmative action is an action favouring women who tend to suffer from discrimination in the scope of politics, religion, social circles and in academia.


The former Sunyani based Sky FM and Space FM broadcaster comes on board with experience and passion to trumpet the plight of women and unearth the potentials of women in society as she currently hosts a talk show which addresses the rights and responsibilities of women in the home and society at large dubbed “Efie Nsem”.

Prof. Mike Oquaye, Ghana’s speaker of parliament addressing delegates at the High-Level Policy Dialogue on the future of governance in Africa on the theme “Is a new concept of governance the key to accelerating the prosperity agenda?” in  September 2017 reemphasized the need to champion the course of affirmative action.


 “today the rise of women continues to nimble on the periphery. Generally speaking political representation in African parliament are some 25 percent of the populace, when women are generally about 51% of the population. Shall we continue to take these things for granted or bring out serious affirmative action laws so as to protect the rights and improve the rights of women” he called out at Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel in Accra.
