A health screening exercise organized by Berekum Citizens’ Association on Friday 30th March has ended successfully.

 Dr Henry Amankwah, the lead clinician for the exercise has hinted the exercise was one of a kind despite they met 80 percent of their target. “We had 240 patrons out of the target of 300. Probably the publicity was a bit low and the Easter festivity amidst various conventions could be contributory factors but for a start it's very appreciable" Dr Amankwah noted.

The screening catered for Hepatitis B, Hypertension and Diabetes at two different centers, thus Oman hence Park and Nyansa Ye curve.

Speaking yo KkbPortal, the Berekum Holy Family Senior Medical officer however revealed the reasons for the exercise. "We want the residents to be abreast with their health status, have healthy dwellers and as a result increase productivity" Dr Amankwah hinted.

Based on the statistics from the exercise, he admonished the general public to observe health lifestyles which will keep them healthy.

"Lifestyles such as eccessive alcoholism and drugs, unprotected sex, late meals, irregular health check-ups, high fat consumption, wrong intake of dosage and irregular exercise expose an individual to one or all of these diseases" the doctor advised.

Doctor Amankwah who is the head of the health committee of the Berekum Citizens' Association is hopeful, periodically such exercises will go on to ensure a healthy community.

Some industrious residents who took part of the exercise include Prof. Daniel Obeng Ofori (Vice chancellor CUCG -Fiapre), Evang. Paul Osei Agyemag (CEO Shalom Radio) Mr Asiedu Kwadwo Arthur(Abaa Printing Press), Mr Opoku Boakye Yiadom (Former Berekum MCE), Paa K (Enapark Pharmacy) Mr Ali Salifu Day in day ( 2012 & 2016 CPP parliamentary candidate) Kwasi Kumi Boadu (Sky FM) and others.
