The lives of teachers and pupils of the kindergarten classes of Twumasikrom D/A Basic school are in peril due to the deplorable state of their classroom block. The classroom block which has collapsing cracks leaves a great sense of fear in both the teachers and pupils when clouds are formed and during strong winds.

The roof of the structure that was built in 1988, was ripped off in 2015 by a heavy rainstorm. There has not been any renovation works on it since its establishment, authorities noted.

Apart from exposing the pupils to the scorching sun and rains on rainy days, pupils have to shove one another over inadequate but broken desks during lessons. This, the authorities of the school say is negatively affecting the teaching and learning activities in the classroom.

Speaking to Sky News Kofi Oppong Asamoah, Mr Baffour Diawuo the headmaster of the school indicated that many attempts to get aid from the Sunyani West District Education authorities has proven futile.

“Since the disaster, I have petitioned the district education authorities to come to our aid to salvage the situation on several occasions, but none of my efforts has yielded a prolific result” he said.

He appealed to government and the general public to find it a need to come to their aid and help them to renovate the facility. He noted that any further delays in renovating this facility can lead to a dire misfortune.
