The Sunyani west municipal assembly failed to vote to confirm the district Chief Executive Nominee for the district.
The nominee, Mr. Martin Obeng failed to pull the expected votes of 36 out of the total number of 54 officials of the assembly.

Prior to the election the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Lawyer Kwaku Asomah Cheremeh pleaded with the assembly members and government appointees to realise the need to vote massively for the nominee.

"The president is entreating both elected and appointed members of this Honourable house to vote massively to confirm his nominee. This Is the surest way to invoke developmental projects from the government without any delays" he noted.

Despite the humble plea, officials voted 35 out of the total 54 making 64.81 percent of total votes cast for the nominee.

A minor uproar that erupted from disgruntled electorates over how and where the counting process should be done was controlled by the heavy presence of armed security personnel.

A move to reconduct the election instantly failed leading to an indefinite postponement of the re-election process.

The regional minister and his entourages had earlier on the day failed to conduct an  election at Bechem for the re election of Mr Collins Offinam Takyi in the Tano South constituency. This incident at Sunyani West adds up to Berekum and Sene West in failing to confirm their MMDCEs.
