The sunyani west District Chief Executive nominee, Martin Obeng,  has downplayed rumours making rounds  that he is incapable of managing the district because he is a physically challenged person.

Last Thursday, though, the appointee needed 36 votes out of the 54 assembly members made up of 37 elected members and 17 government appointees; he garnered 35, while 19 voted against him.

Speaking on the Sky Big Breakfast show, he said he is capable of doing everything expected of him as a DCE when confirmed.
“My disability is not an inability. I will be able to perform my task to the fullest if I am given the mandate” he said.

Mr Obeng whose confirmation or otherwise comes off on Friday,  May 26, also rubbished rumours that he is not in good terms with his member of parliament,  Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah.

“I do not have any squabbles with my Member of Parliament. We have mutual respect for ourselves and I revered him very much since day one I met him.” He noted.

He added that, he is ready to work with his MP if given the mandate to ensure development in his district.
