DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING OF SUNYANI TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY CALLS FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT


The electrical engineering department of the Sunyani Technical University is calling on the government and stakeholders to come to their aid financially prior to their upcoming maiden exhibition program scheduled for Thursday, May 18, 2017.

On behalf of the Head of Department, Mr. James Adu-Ansere, Mr.  Isaac Kofi Nti, a lecturer at the department, speaking on Sky Fm’S Asetena Pa on Monday said the department has invented basic simple machines which are very useful in the control of energy consumption.  He indicated that these artifacts have gone through simulation hence can be used on world standards.

"Electronic Eye, power factor Control  Factor system, Wireless Power Transmission, Water Level Controller, Password Controlled System,E-voting system Stun Gun or Teaser Voltage Stabilizers, Transformers and  Automatic room light controller are few of these basic essential artifacts the department has invented" he said.

 But Mr. Nti said the department is not financially equipped, this has been a great challenge for them saying the electrical department would have made a mass production of such artifacts but due to financial constraints, they are unable to do so.

Adding his voice to what Mr. Kofi Nti had earlier said, Mr. Marvin Osei, another lecturer at the department of electrical engineering at the STU said it is time Ghanaians changed their bad perception about technical education; adding that technical education should be seen as a relevant aspect of industrial revolution and a major contributor  to national development.

Mr. Iddrisu Danlard another lecturer at the department said that since establishment of the university as a Technical Institute in 1967, the institutition has produced renowned and qualified graduates who are at various institutitions paying their quota to national development. He there pleaded with the informal artisans and technicians to collaborate effectively with them to ensure professional job done.
